it's like i suddenly got an epiphany of sorts.
i entered mass comm with journalism in mind; after a module on it last sem it got me rethinking. communication research is out - numbers and me get along like oil and water, we don't mix. advertising is also out 'cos i lack the creative juices and artsy skills. so it's down to journalism (although i dread tight deadlines), public relations, and electronic broadcast media.
i want the money and glamour and glitz, so PR is quite tempting, but problem is i cannot forsee myself smiling 24/7 and having to be tactful and persuasive all the time.
i was watching the best of get real! on ChannelNewsAsia and it was a recap on all the shows they've done - child prostitution in batam, a 92 year old woman whose not so rich herself, giving up her love for durian-a simple pleasure life, so that she can donate to the poor, so on.
it touched me. it made me look outside this closed circle of self-indulgence we call life and look at what other people are facing. real people with real life situations.
that's when it hit me. i've always wanted to work in CNA one day, just that i don't know as what.
after that epidode of get real!, i realise - i want to bring awareness to the very real plights others are facing especially right here in singapore, to touch hearts and maybe lives. not to change anything, i would be naive to think that it is that easy to change anything at all, but to at least be a platform where other perspectives and angles can be looked at.
i still don't exactly know what i want to be in in CNA (producer? director? host?), but at least now it's more or less boils down to this for me - i should and would probably do both journalism and EBM, and maybe top it off with a minor in sociology.
alternatively, writing for the papers or for some high-end magazine doesn't seem that bad either. i just gotta watch out for deadlines; in any case my very first article is out in this issue of Nanyang Chronicle! (:
i just wanna do something that i'm passionate about (hopefully not a deskbound 9-5 job, and hopefully earn big bucks and have some glamour and glitz along with it. haha)

ellen degeneres and,
max loong!!!!!
ellen degeneres is so endearing, amiable and quirky, she rocks in the ellen degeneres show; and it doesn't matter her romantic preferences.
and max loong, gawd, he's just sizzzzzling hot can. yes, he's that guy from after hours, and i can just melt everytime he appears and speaks in that utterly sexy accent of his. nevermind that he's like a jerk in the show.
they have me enthralled, sigh.
