of height and MCs
so i'm listening to Class 95, and this guy wrote in to Yaz-he likes this girl but she's way taller than he is and loves wearing heels.
i must say it sounds pretty amusing to me like that, but in retrospect how true that is.
for one, i love my height, i'm a nice 1.68m (though the last measurement put me at 1.7 but i refuse to acknowledge that haha, 1.68 is a much nicer number!) but if you take a look at the guys in singapore, not alot of them stand at the ideal height of 1.8, and it can get pretty annoying when i can't wear heels much because of them guy's confidence (or the lack of).
it's not like i'm even that tall, but i recall during prom i was wearing these 3-inches high heels which put me at about 1.76m and guys(who were about probably what, 1.72m?) were joking asking me to stay away from them.
and especially in the asian context, stereotypes still exist despite whatever people say about becoming a more liberated society. and because of that, i have never dated guys who are shorter than me, the shortest being maybe just a few centimetres taller than me which also means that i would be taller once i wear anything that are not flats.
it's annoying really, we're all caught up with appearances and stereotypes, so if you get together with someone, he must be taller, of same race, of same religion hopefully, have an equal or higher level of education, higher salary yada yada. as if finding someone to spend the rest of your life with isn't already a difficult task in itself. haha.
but whatever, i love my heels and it's gonna take a confident guy to accept that, heels and all (:
okay, so i'm having this msn conversation about taking MC and whatnot, and i just have this to say, the whole MC business is damn stupid. it's like, if i'm having cramps today and i can't go to work, why would i even go to the polyclinic and tell the doc, hello doctor, i have cramps?? as if the doc can do anything at all, you just go there to get MC, waste everybody's time only.
since you're only there to get an MC and not to get the doc's advice or diagnosis, you're taking up valuable space and time from other people who are genuinely sick and need to get the doctor's opinion on whatever lumps they're having.
like those minor cough and flu and headaches, i believe we all have simple medication for that at home, there's no need to go see the doc just for a bloody piece of MC! i say we should all have a few days of unpaid leave without needing to produce MC. what's the point of say you decide to go to work despite having that cough or flu because you see no point in seeing a doc, and then spreading your bug to everyone at work??
i can't imagine how working life for the rest of my life will be like, i miss school la, when i don't feel like going to school just don't go, don't need to produce MC also, can just slack all i want. working life is like... being stuck in four walls, damn restrictive can.
so either way, i still think that taking MC and the whole logic behind taking MC is damn stupid, i rest my case.
