i was watching Hable con ella (that's "Talk to Her" in Spanish) on arts central the other day, and googled it after watching, as i always do after every good movie i watched.

and i was reading the discussion boards, and realised that the version i watched had been heavily censored!

well, granted, the film had nudity and of course Singapore TV wouldn't allow that, but missing out on those scenes completely changed the meaning of the story! it changed the way i would perceive the characters, as well as the whole experience i got out from the film!

didn't we all learn from COM257 that the necessity of a (sexually or otherwise) explicit scene has a lot to do with the artistry of the film? take Lust. Caution, for example. without those steamy sex scenes between the two main characters, the whole show wouldn't quite make sense anymore!

what's the point of watching a heavily censored show if it doesn't make much sense?

well maybe if i had all the time in the world and a whole lot of cash to spare, i might go rent the complete (uncut and uncensored) version of the Spanish art film. meanwhile, i'll just have to make do (:

the past few days had me falling head over heels in love with this absolutely beautiful piece of music, click
here to listen.

it's actually the song that is playing for The Leap Years' trailer (another must-watch movie!), and i have gotten the scores to play it ! it's quite difficult to play it the way Sakamoto Ryuichi plays it, he's afterall the composer of the song; the song is just utterly breathtakingly wonderful!

i listen to it everyday and i fall deeper in love with it everyday. sigh.

so let me be
a wild flower

its death shall be
the fading of beauty
