now that the busy period at work is over (for now), i'm looking forward to things falling back to normalcy - or at least, a semblance of normalcy. last Thursday was one of the highlights of this internship thus far - but now that it's over, i can finally take a breather and sit back for awhile.
weekends have never been so precious - at least this weekend was much better than the last since i had to come back to office last Saturday morning. redeemed my well-deserved weekend by taking half-day off on Friday. heh.
i'm loving the sleep-ins, catching up on my TV shows, spending a lazy afternoon at the boyfriend's, the finally-getting-to-wear-clothes-other-than-office-wear, the walking about town, catching up over dinner at a new place with an old friend, and some much needed retail therapy. i loved the weekend freedom so much that on Saturday night i just felt like walking about in town alone just to soak in the night air even after the shops are closed. but in the end my tired legs won and i took the train back with Huisi :)
finally got my hands on "The Road of Lost Innocence" by Somaly Mam, and i can't wait to sit down with the paperback and lose myself in another world. it's been too long since i had a good read, and this is one rare book purchase! i rarely buy books, preferring to borrow or rent them. (other than for academic purposes, of course. heh)"The Road of Lost Innocence" is the true story of Somaly Mam, a Cambodian woman who was sold into child prostitution, and how she fought against the odds to regain her freedom and now devotes her life to fighting against sex slavery. it looks to be an interesting read.
i'm now at the midpoint of internship - this is the 12th week. it seems far too long and far too short all at the same time. in a way it's just one more time of whatever i've already been through, and it does seem pretty manageable. on the other hand, i just can't wait for the holidays already!

where it blooms
so let me be
a wild flower
its death shall be
the fading of beauty
