there i was, just minding my own business on the way to work, when i suddenly heard this particularly loud squawk very near my ear. i thought, why would a bird be flying so low? but it wasn't flying past me, it kept flying around me!
i was so petrified i could only manage something quite bimbotic - i screamed and threw my bag on to the ground, trying to shield myself from the squawking perpetrator. yes laugh please, it's seems so funny now that i'm typing this.
THEN the boyfriend who was with me did the most amazing thing - (no offence to animal activists, this was self-defence!) he smacked the poor bird with his hand. HAHA.
when i finally managed to get a good look at my attacker - which was now sitting dazed on the ground, i didn't expect to see this:

jon deduced that perhaps the crows (there were a few big, black ones flying nearby) were attacking the little bird - so either it became a little hysterical and starting attacking whatever was nearby (aka me); or it thought i was a tree it could take shelter in (i was wearing green).
in whichever case, it flew away after awhile, thank God. my poor boy felt so guilty that he had to hit a little bird - he wanted to go see if it was OK or even carry it but it flew away too fast. awww, so sweet ;) thank you, love. i would have completely looked like a bimbo if i had to fend for myself :)
in other news, had a farewell dinner at astons,the cathay last evening for khenghwee, who will be flying off to... (oops i forgot the name of the place) for two months. it was a great meal and i always like hanging out with new friends :)
