the holidays are finally here and i've never felt better!
what made it even better was the fact that the first three days was spent helping out at Wei Ni camp - this children's day camp organised by jon's church. what a meaningful way to kickstart the holidays, don't you think :)
jon and i co-led this group of 10 screaming, hyper children who wouldn't stop running around, complete with arms flailing. okay, i got to give jon credit though since i was technically only there for 2 days, cos i only reached in the afternoon the first 2 days. jon i can totally see your paternal instincts at work ! :D
explaining Indian Poker to the kids. notice the boy in the green shirt - Justin, he kept wanting to play with my camera. eh Justin Chai, are all Justins always so irritating? hahaha kidding.
with Esther, she was so shy at first but gradually opened up and showed her playful side during the next few days, and will always come to us for a hug.
Allison, one of the other girls in the group. there were only 3 girls in the group la, can you imagine - that's 7 boys and boys are always harder to manage.
jon and the other leaders at the end of the first day - super tired !
on the rooftop of jon's new church building - it's so big and grand now!
second day, with Shannon. another adorable girl and she's jonnie's "first girlfriend" LOL.
and she took this for us! not bad.
old school Western Food for dinner on the 2nd day at Parkway with jonnie.
3rd day - playing with jon's handphone. the two boys are brothers and the younger one is sooo cute with those specs.
with Chester, he's such a quiet kid!we realise you gotta engage the kids in activities, if not they would be running around or climbing all over you or pulling at your hair.... the 3rd day they were suppose to write Thank You cards to their parents, and some of the boys started folding origami. i'm amazed at their talent!
here's Jia Gin folding a paper butterfly and Wesley looking on,
Jia Gin with his paper crane! (he unfolded the paper butterfly saying it wasn't nice lol)
"I can fold a heart with wings!" says Wesley in that cute accent of his hahaha. and this little charmer folded one for me as well, and for anyone else who asked. so sweet ;) i can so picture him when he's older and charming the ladies in future.
cute little Darryl, he's only 6 years old and soooo adorable!! if i have a son i hope he would be something like him. haha!
the twintowers. the kids were smart to differentiate them though - "Jonathan's the one with the beard!"
and our team - Cat, along with Aunty Catherine and Aunty Elsie who helped us out thank God. even with 4 adults in the group it was no easy feat managing this group of 9 children.
i am really so glad that the holidays are finally here, but i've also learnt that i should take each day as it comes and appreciate each day as it is, 'cos you never know what tomorrow will bring.
the last day at work was definitely a humbling experience, i didn't expect it at all but my department got me $100 worth of Kinokuniya vouchers plus a framed up photograph of myself - i thought i was helping out for my sup's photoshoot but turns out it wasn't used for the photoshoot - now i knew what it was used for. haha. i also got a lunch treat at Fish n Co'!
it was so completely unexpected (i was contemplating making a quick exit on Fri evening 'cos i so hate saying goodbyes) that i actually burst into tears. ugh, kill me please i've completely made a fool of myself on my last day of internship. hah.
i truly appreciate their effort and gifts, and this was definitely a humbling experience 'cos i realise it ain't just all about me. in any case however, i certainly do not miss being in the office because i am SO basking in the sweeeet freedom right now, baby - i'm totally enjoying the sleeping in till 12pm and hanging out on my sofa the whole afternoon watching TV and doing whatever i want, whenever i want to ;)
will be heading to Redang next week from 1 - 5 July, can't wait !
